This extremely difficult 13.061-kilometer circular hiking route will lead you through a stunning natural area around Pala Fontana. The trail begins at Piazza Martiri della Libertà, where you can find parking facilities. As you set off, you will pass by the Ai Caduti della Resistenza memorial, a poignant reminder of the area's history.
Further along the trail, at a distance of 1.89 kilometers from the start, you will come across Casera Caseratte, a wilderness hut where you can take a moment to rest and admire the wilderness surroundings. Continuing on, you will encounter the Forcella di Giais saddle at 4.85 kilometers, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the landscape.
Be sure to stop at the information points along the way, such as the one at 4.38 kilometers and another at 4.9 kilometers, to learn more about the area's natural and cultural highlights. At 5.94 kilometers, you will reach the peak of Pala Fontana, a perfect spot to take in the scenic beauty of the surroundings.
Throughout the hike, you will also have the opportunity to visit Campeggio Luna campsite and Roncjade alpine hut for sustenance and accommodation options. However, do note that Roncjade is located off the trail, so be prepared for a slight detour if you plan to visit.
With an elevation gain of 412 meters, this route presents a challenging terrain that requires a good level of fitness and hiking experience.
