The Umm Al-Biyara Trail offers a captivating hike through a historic and archaeological wonderland. The trail is 5.27 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 188 meters, making it of moderate difficulty. You can expect to spend around 1 hour and 41 minutes completing the hike.
Starting at the trailhead, you will soon come across the Basin Restaurant, a great spot to refuel before your adventure. As you continue on, you will encounter various points of interest such as the Blue Chapel, Temple of the Winged Lions, and the North Ridge Church, each offering a glimpse into the area's rich history. The route also includes viewpoints like Al Habis and Beautiful view over the Great Temple, providing stunning panoramas of the surrounding landscape.
Throughout the hike, you'll pass by attractions like Altar, Ad Deir (Monastery), and Byzantine Church, each adding to the historical tapestry of the trail. It is recommended to bring water and snacks, as well as checking the weather forecast before embarking on this journey.
As you reach the midway point, you'll find the Lonely Cafe, a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Further along, you will encounter the Lion Triclinium and the Unfinished Tomb, offering a glimpse into the ancient architecture of the region.
At the end of the trail, you'll find the Small Temple and the Unknown archaeological site, adding a sense of mystery to your adventure. Remember to take only memories and leave only footprints as you explore the Umm Al-Biyara Trail.
