This extremely difficult 16.892-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the breathtaking Monte Cucco area. With an elevation gain of 1050.0 meters, this challenging hike is not for the faint-hearted. Make sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and check the weather forecast before heading out.
Starting at the parking area at the beginning of the trail, you will soon come across the Decollo Sud, a popular free-flying site, located 4.19 kilometers from the start. As you trek further, you will pass by the campsite at the area sosta camper, around 5.9 kilometers into the hike, offering a perfect spot to rest and refuel.
At the midpoint of your journey, approximately 4.26 kilometers from the start, you will find a drinking water source to quench your thirst. And if you're feeling hungry, the Monte Cucco da Tobia restaurant is just a short distance away at 5.76 kilometers.
As you continue your ascent, you will encounter several peaks, including Colle gli Scogli, Piano di Porci, and Il Giogo, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Keep an eye out for the cave entrance at Pozzarello, located 4.34 kilometers from the start, adding a sense of adventure to your hike.
Near the end of the trail, around 8.19 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Cascata alta 2 waterfall, a must-see attraction in the area. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the cascading water before making your way back to the starting point.
