This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Pic de Nets in the area. The trail covers a distance of 14.359 kilometers and includes an elevation gain of 1072 meters, so be prepared for a challenging trek.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll come across the Aire de camping-car Mixte avec Voiture parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before setting off. As you make your way along the trail, you'll pass by the beautiful Lac Noir, about 3.59 kilometers from the start, providing a picturesque spot to rest and take in the scenery.
Further along, at around 4.08 kilometers, you'll find the Refuge d'Ilhéou alpine hut, offering a potential overnight accommodation option for hikers looking to extend their journey. Just a bit ahead, at 4.54 kilometers, is the tranquil Lac d'Ilhéou, although it's not directly on the trail, it's worth a slight detour to visit.
Continuing on, you'll encounter the majestic Cascade d'Ilhéou waterfall around 3.01 kilometers from the start, a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. The trail will lead you to the Col de Haugade Supérieur saddle at 6.18 kilometers and the Col d'Haugade Inférieur saddle shortly after.
Finally, you'll reach the highlight of the hike, the Pic de Nets peak at 7.18 kilometers, providing panoramic views of the area. Nearby, the Tuc Arrouy peak at 6.2 kilometers offers an additional scenic viewpoint for those willing to explore a bit further.
