This hiking route in Bielsa covers a distance of 22.09 kilometers with an elevation gain of 2173 meters, making it an extremely difficult trek that will take approximately 10 hours and 32 minutes to complete.
Starting at the trailhead, you will first come across the Point d'Information touristique de Gavarnie where you can gather some useful information about the area. As you progress, you will find parking areas for convenience at various points along the trail.
Around 1.89 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach Cabane d'Alans, a wilderness hut where you can take a break and rest before continuing on. Further along at the 8.56 kilometer mark, you'll find the Refuge Tuquerouye where you can spend the night if you choose to break up the hike.
Continuing on, you will reach Petit Astazou peak at the 11.05 kilometer mark, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail, you'll come across Hourquette d'Alan saddle at the 5.74 kilometer mark.
At around 8.56 kilometers into the hike, there's the Aire de bivouac du Refuge des Espuguettes campsite where you can set up camp if needed. For sustenance, there are options like Bar Brasserie Pizzeria "Le Mourgat" and Bar Brasserie Les Glaciers along the way.
Towards the end of the hike, you'll encounter peaks like Pic de Tuquerouye and Col Swan, as well as saddles like Breche des Deux Bornes. The trek culminates at the Brèche de Tuquerouye saddle before making your way back.
