This hiking route follows the Route d'Aste, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. With a total distance of 15.121 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1939 meters, this route is classified as extremely difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers.

Starting at the parking area at the trailhead, hikers will make their way along the trail, passing by the shelter of Cabane de l'Arriou around the 2.28 kilometers mark. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Further along the trail, at approximately 3.36 kilometers, hikers will reach the Col de Paloumère, a picturesque saddle along the route.

Continuing on, at about 5.96 kilometers into the hike, hikers will find the Cabane du Barrage du Tech shelter. This is a good opportunity to rest and refuel before continuing on the challenging journey. As hikers ascend, they will come across Monesté peak, although it is slightly off the main trail at 3.8 kilometers.

At the halfway point, around 7.56 kilometers, there is a wheelchair-accessible viewpoint offering breathtaking panoramic views. This is a perfect spot to take in the scenery and snap some photos. Finally, on the way back, at 0.12 kilometers from the trailhead, there is an information point providing interesting facts about the area.
