This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you to the Monte de San Cristóbal in the Lizoain-Arriasgoiti/Lizoainibar-Arriasgoiti area. With a total distance of 15.745 kilometers and an elevation gain of 578 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart.
Starting off at the trailhead, you will find a public parking area conveniently located just 15 meters away from the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here before embarking on your journey. As you make your way along the path, approximately 7.87 kilometers from the start, you will come across a water source, providing a refreshing opportunity to refill your water bottles.
Continuing on, at around 5.24 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Alto de Quiñones peak, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to take a moment to appreciate the beauty from this vantage point.
Approximately 0.2 kilometers from the start, you will find a drinking water station where you can replenish your water supply. It's essential to stay hydrated throughout this challenging hike.
Further along the trail, at a distance of 4.5 kilometers from the start, you will pass by the Chaparral Grande peak. While not directly on the trail, this peak still offers a beautiful sight if you choose to venture off the main path. Another peak, Txorrotxaga, is located 6.49 kilometers from the start but is also off the main trail.
