Welcome to the hiking route to Schmalzgrube! This extremely difficult 17.247-kilometer trail offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.
The trail starts at Karavans parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this journey. As you begin your hike, you'll pass by Kölnbreinstüberl restaurant, a great spot to grab a meal or refreshments before hitting the trail.
Along the way, you'll encounter various points of interest. At around 6.56 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach Oberer Schwarzsee, a beautiful natural water feature perfect for a rest stop. Further along the trail, at 7.85 kilometers, you'll come across Albert-Biwak shelter, where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
As you continue your ascent, you'll reach Schmalzscharte saddle at 7.75 kilometers, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks as you conquer the challenging terrain.
At 8.59 kilometers, you'll find a refreshing water source before reaching Weinschnabel peak at 5.2 kilometers, where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the area.
