This hiking route will take you through the beautiful area surrounding Lac de l'Hivernet. The trail is 8.102 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 768 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 3 hours and 47 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you'll come across the Parking de la Forêt, situated right at the beginning of the trail. About 0.66 kilometers in, you'll reach the Refuge des Fontainiers, a wilderness hut where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
Further along the trail, at around 4.05 kilometers, you'll reach the stunning Lac de l'Hivernet, a beautiful water feature that is perfect for a rest stop or a picnic. Make sure to stay hydrated on your hike, but you can refill your water bottle at the drinking water station located 0.78 kilometers from the start.
Along the way, you'll also pass by a picnic site and several information points where you can learn more about the area. Just before the halfway point, there is a non-trail water feature around 3.39 kilometers in, perfect for a quick detour before continuing on your journey.
Given the length and elevation gain of this hike, it is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before heading out. The Out-and-back route type means you will retrace your steps on the way back, so plan your energy accordingly.
Enjoy the stunning views and tranquil atmosphere of Lac de l'Hivernet on this challenging yet rewarding hike.
