The Upper Kananaskis Lake Trail is a challenging out-and-back hike with a total distance of 8.5 kilometers and an elevation gain of 33 meters. The trail is located in a beautiful area with stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
As you start your hike, you'll find parking areas nearby to leave your vehicle before hitting the trail. Along the way, you'll come across North Interlakes parking area, and as you continue, you'll pass by Point Backcountry Campground, providing a convenient place to rest or even camp for the night.
Around the 4.25-kilometer mark, you'll encounter a water source, offering a chance to refill your water bottles and take a break. There are also benches and information points scattered along the trail, providing opportunities to relax and learn more about the area.
At about 3 kilometers into the hike, you'll find the Indefatigable Trail Decomissioned 2005, offering a glimpse into the history of the area. Towards the end of the trail, approximately at the 3.02-kilometer mark, you'll find more information points to explore before making your way back.
Although the trail is relatively short, the elevation gain and some rough terrain make it a difficult hike. It is important to wear appropriate footwear, bring plenty of water, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
