This hiking route, known as Traversata Carnica, is an extremely difficult out-and-back trail that covers a distance of 12.581 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1002 meters. The estimated duration for this challenging hike is approximately 5 hours and 25 minutes.
The trail starts at a parking area located at the beginning of the route. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest. Midway through the hike, at around 5.68 kilometers from the start, you will reach Göriacher Alm, a historic wayside cross that offers a glimpse into the past.
Continuing on, at approximately 5.84 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a natural water source, providing a refreshing spot to rest and refill your water bottles. Around the 6.29-kilometer mark, there are two more water sources along the trail, perfect for quenching your thirst on this demanding journey.
At 5.71 kilometers from the start, you will find a natural spring, offering another opportunity to replenish your water supply. Additionally, at 0.52 kilometers from the start, there is a drinking water station for your convenience.
As you approach the end of the hike, at around 5.56 and 5.58 kilometers from the start, you will find benches where you can take a break and enjoy the scenic views before heading back.
