This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of Levada do Caldeirão do Inferno in Santana. With a total distance of 14.538 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1630 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart.
You will start your journey at a parking area just 0.02 kilometers from the trailhead. As you begin your hike, you will pass by various points of interest such as Lagoa, a beautiful water feature located 0.67 kilometers from the start. Along the way, you will also find a cafe and multiple water sources to refill your supplies.
Midway through your hike, around the 5.86 kilometer mark, you will encounter the stunning Caldeirão Verde waterfall, a perfect spot to rest and take in the natural beauty that surrounds you. Continuing on, you will come across viewpoints and picnic sites where you can stop for a break and enjoy the magnificent views of the area.
