This challenging hiking route takes you through the stunning landscape surrounding Lago di Ortisè. With a total distance of 10.906 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1166 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart.
Starting at the Valorz parking area, you will begin your journey surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest. About 0.8 kilometers into the hike, you will find Malghetta, a shelter where you can take a break and refuel. Further along the trail, at around 2.81 kilometers from the start, you will reach Malga Casera (Soprasasso di sotto), an alpine hut offering a glimpse into the local mountain culture.
Continuing on, at the 3.63-kilometer mark, you will encounter Lago di Soprasasso, a picturesque alpine lake that is perfect for a rest stop and a moment of tranquility. As you push forward, you will pass by Malga Soprasasso Alta at approximately 3.81 kilometers from the start, another alpine hut where you can take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
For those looking to explore more natural wonders, a waterfall can be found off the main trail at around 1.52 kilometers from the start. This detour offers a refreshing break from the challenging ascent.
As you reach the latter part of the hike, at around 5.09 kilometers from the start, you will find a water source, providing a much-needed opportunity to rest and rehydrate before the final stretch. Additionally, at 5.11 kilometers from the start, another water source will be available for your convenience.
Throughout the hike, make sure to stay hydrated and pack plenty of water, as well as snacks to keep your energy levels up. The terrain can be steep and rugged, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Before embarking on this journey, be sure to check the weather forecast and plan accordingly.
