This hiking route to Punta Cabalera offers a challenging adventure through stunning natural landscapes. The trail is an out-and-back type, totaling 13.754 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1310 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
The journey begins at a parking area located right at the start of the trail. As you make your way, you will come across Aire de Bivouac de l'Hospice du Rioumajou, a campsite where you can rest and enjoy the surrounding nature. Further along the trail, you will pass by Hospice du Rioumajou, an alpine hut providing shelter and basic amenities for hikers.
Midway through the hike, you will encounter Hospice du Rioumajou, a restaurant where you can refuel and recharge before continuing your journey. Nearby, there is also a shelter for hikers to take a break and relax.
As you approach the endpoint of Punta Cabalera, you will pass through Puerto de la Madera and Port de Cauarère, two saddles offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Additionally, there is an information point along the trail where you can learn more about the area.
While the route is challenging, it rewards hikers with breathtaking views and unique natural features such as the Fontaine ferrugineuse spring.
