This hiking route takes you through the stunning natural beauty of the area surrounding Punta Culfreda. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 15.872 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1495 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will challenge even experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find Aire de Bivouac de l'Hospice du Rioumajou, a campsite where you can rest and enjoy the surroundings. Further along, you will encounter Hospice du Rioumajou, an alpine hut that serves as a shelter and offers facilities for hikers. You can also find a restaurant at Hospice du Rioumajou if you need to refuel during your trek.
As you continue on the trail, you will pass by Punta Cabalera and Pico Culfreda Central, two peaks that offer breathtaking views of the area. You will also come across Puerto de la Madera and Port de Cauarère, two saddles along the route that add to the challenging terrain of the hike.
One of the highlights of the hike is the stunning waterfall that you will see along the way, adding to the natural beauty of the area. Additionally, you can visit Fontaine ferrugineuse, a spring that offers a refreshing stop for hikers.
