This hiking route will take you through the beautiful area of Sentiero per la cascata del Marmarico. The trail is an out-and-back type, covering a distance of 15.939 kilometers with an elevation gain of 681 meters, making it extremely difficult and challenging. It is recommended for experienced hikers.
As you start your hike, you will come across a parking area at the beginning of the trail, followed by a picnic site and a restaurant called Ristorante La Vecchia Miniera. Along the way, you will find benches for resting and enjoying the views. Make sure to bring enough water, as there are drinking water sources available at various points on the trail.
As you continue on, you will pass by an archaeological site called Raccordo delle Condotte Forzate della Centrale Idroelettrica Marmarico, adding a historical touch to your journey. Further ahead, you will encounter viewpoints offering stunning panoramas of the surroundings.
Midway through the hike, you will reach a spring named Pizzicareda, providing a refreshing stop along the trail. Barbecue areas are also available for a picnic or a meal break. Remember to pack some snacks and check the weather forecast before heading out.
Towards the end of the trail, you will find more viewpoints and additional barbecue facilities. Plan your hike accordingly, as the duration is approximately 5 hours and 23 minutes. Make sure to carry necessary supplies and be prepared for a strenuous yet rewarding adventure in the Sentiero per la cascata del Marmarico area.
