Welcome to the Gamssteig hiking route in the beautiful area of Top Mountain Star in Austria. This extremely difficult 17.765-kilometer out-and-back trail offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.
Starting at Seeber Parkplatz, the trail leads you through stunning natural landscapes with an elevation gain of 1587 meters. Along the way, you will encounter several points of interest. At the beginning of the hike, you'll come across Obere Glaneggalm - Malga Dosso Piccolo, a rustic restaurant where you can refuel and enjoy local cuisine.
As you continue on, you'll pass by Hohes Schaferegge, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Further ahead, you'll reach Königsjoch, a scenic saddle point that marks a great spot for a rest and to take in the impressive scenery.
Midway through the trail, you'll find Top Mountain Star, a popular restaurant with stunning views, perfect for a well-deserved break. Additionally, make sure to visit the viewpoints along the way for spectacular photo opportunities.
Towards the end of the hike, you'll encounter the peaks of Hinterer Wurmkogel, Vorderer Wurmkogel, and Hintere Schwenzerspitze, showcasing the rugged beauty of the region. Although these peaks are slightly off the main trail, they are worth the detour for experienced hikers seeking a challenge.
