Welcome to the Gletscherrundweg hiking route! This extremely difficult 26.423 km trail with an elevation gain of 1801.0 meters will take you approximately 10 hours and 37 minutes to complete.
The trail starts at the parking lot near the Ehrwalder Almbahn, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on this challenging adventure. As you begin your journey, you'll pass by the Ehrwalder Alm, a lovely alpine hut around 2.66 km from the start.
Along the way, you'll encounter several information points that provide insight into the surrounding area, such as Abz. Brunntalgrat and various other notable landmarks. Don't forget to take a break at the Ganghofer Hütte, a restaurant located 1.41 km from the start, where you can fuel up on delicious food and beverages.
The trail will lead you to the Am Brand saddle at around 6.63 km, offering stunning views of the natural landscape. Further ahead, you'll find the Gatterl saddle, a historic site at 7.78 km from the start, and other points of interest like wayside crosses, viewpoints, and memorial spots throughout the hike.
For sustenance, there are several restaurants and alpine huts conveniently located along the trail, including the BrentAlm, Knorrhütte, and Gletschergarten. Make sure to stay hydrated by refilling your water supply at the drinking water stations and springs along the way.
