This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route to Monte Plauris covers a distance of 13.099 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1483 meters. The total duration for this challenging hike is estimated to be around 6 hours and 44 minutes.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will first come across a parking area right at the beginning of the route. It is advisable to make sure you have all the necessary gear, including plenty of water and snacks, before embarking on this demanding journey.
As you progress along the trail, you will encounter various points of interest. Roughly midway through the hike at approximately 3.05 kilometers from the start, you will find the wilderness hut "Ricovero Resartico" where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
Continuing on, at around 3.06 kilometers from the start, you will reach two shelters that offer a resting spot for tired hikers. These can be a good place to refuel and recharge for the remainder of the journey.
One notable landmark along the way is the Borgo minerario Resartico ruins at 3.05 kilometers from the start, providing a glimpse into the area's historic past. Additionally, at 3.07 kilometers from the start, there is a viewpoint that offers stunning panoramic views, perfect for capturing some memorable photos.
Towards the end of the route, approximately 6.55 kilometers from the start, you will reach the peak of Monte Plauris, the final destination of the hike. Here, you can take in breathtaking views from the summit as a reward for your strenuous efforts.
