The Overland Track is an extremely difficult 12.039-kilometer circular hiking route with an elevation gain of 490 meters, taking around 4 hours to complete. The trail is located in a stunning natural area, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience for avid hikers.
As you begin your journey, you will come across several points of interest. At the 1.7-kilometer mark, you'll find a bench where you can take a rest and enjoy the surrounding views. Continuing on, at the 3.26-kilometer mark, you'll reach the Crater Peak viewpoint, offering a panoramic vista of the landscape. Nearby, at 3.26 kilometers as well, you'll find Crater Peak itself, a notable natural peak worth exploring.
Throughout the hike, you will encounter various water sources at different points along the trail, so make sure to stay hydrated. Additionally, there are wilderness huts along the way, with one located right at the start of the trail for accommodation. The Kitchen Hut at 5.21 kilometers is another facility you can utilize during your hike.
As you make your way back towards the starting point, you'll pass by Crater Falls at 1.65 kilometers, adding a refreshing stop to your journey. Finally, be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout this challenging hike on the Overland Track.
