This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the beautiful Sonntagskar area. The trail covers a distance of 17.27 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1494 meters, making it a challenging but rewarding adventure.

As you embark on this hike, you will come across several points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Breitlahnalm parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before starting your journey. Further along the trail, at a distance of 2.85 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Harmer Alm restaurant, a perfect spot to take a break and refuel.

Continuing on, at 0.07 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the Breitlahnhütte, a restaurant and alpine hut offering limited wheelchair access. As you progress, you will also pass by various water features such as Schwarzensee, Oberer Sonntagskarsee, and other smaller bodies of water, providing serene moments amidst the challenging hike.

Midway through the trail, at 7.66 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Rettingscharte saddle, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
