This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route to Piz Chavalatsch spans a total of 12.535 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1001.0 meters. The estimated duration for the hike is 5 hours and 24 minutes.
The trail begins at a parking area which is located right at the start of the route. As you start your journey, you will come across a drinking water station at 2.31 kilometers into the hike, providing a much-needed opportunity to refill your water bottle.
Further along the trail, approximately 1.4 kilometers from the start, you will find a picnic site where you can take a break and enjoy a snack while surrounded by nature.
Around the 2.52 kilometer mark, slightly off the main trail, you will spot the Obere Stilfser Alm - Malga Stelvio di Sopra, a charming alpine hut where you can sit down for a hearty meal or grab a refreshing drink.
As you continue onwards, at the 5.42 kilometer point, there is a water body, adding a serene touch to the surroundings.
At the midway point of the hike, at 6.24 kilometers, you will encounter a memorial site that provides a moment of reflection amidst the natural beauty of the area.
Approaching the turning point of the hike, at 6.26 kilometers, you will reach a viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Finally, at 6.27 kilometers, you will reach the highlight of the hike, Piz Chavalatsch, a majestic peak that stands tall in the distance.
