Welcome to the Aizkorritxo hiking route! This challenging out-and-back trail spans a distance of 10.387 kilometers with an elevation gain of 599 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you will first pass by the Urbiako fonda restaurant, located 3.65 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. As you continue, you will come across the Fondako iturria drinking water source at 3.82 kilometers, followed by the Zabalaitzazpi iturria water source at 3.28 kilometers. These will be great spots to refill your water bottles and stay hydrated throughout your journey.
Further along the trail, at 5.19 kilometers, you will find the Dolmen Aizkorritxo archaeological site, offering a glimpse into the area's history. Nearby, at 3.82 kilometers, you can explore the Túmulo Gorostiaran Este and Dolmen Gorostiaran Oeste archaeological sites, showcasing ancient structures from the past.
For hikers interested in natural landmarks, the Aizkorriko Estazio Megalitikoa information point at 3.82 kilometers and the Aizpotorreta peak at 3.51 kilometers provide informative stops along the way. Additionally, the Aizkorritxo peak at 5.19 kilometers offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, making it a perfect spot for a picturesque rest.
Before heading back, you can replenish your water supply at the Iruiturrieta and Erroitiko iturria drinking water sources located at 4.51 kilometers and 0.92 kilometers respectively. Finally, the hike concludes back at the starting point, where you will have covered a challenging but fulfilling route.
