This hiking route is located in a scenic area with breathtaking views and challenging terrain. The total distance of the hike is 15.054 kilometers with an elevation gain of 950.0 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will take approximately 5 hours and 51 minutes to complete.

Starting at the trailhead, you will come across various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find El Tilo restaurant where you can fuel up before starting your journey. As you continue on, you will pass by Servicio de Interpretación de Altas Cumbres, a tourism information center, and parking facilities at around 0.04 kilometers from the start.

Midway through the hike, at approximately 7.53 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Refugio de la Piuca, an alpine hut where you can take a rest and enjoy the panoramic views. Nearby, you will also find La Pizzería restaurant and El Corral del Castaño for sustenance.

Along the trail, you will also encounter various viewpoints such as Mirador Veleta y Mulhacén and Mirador Barranco Poqueira, offering stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, there are several drinking water sources like Fuente del Calvario and Fuente del Cubo to stay hydrated during your hike.
