Welcome to the hiking route in La Thuile! This trail is 13.872 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 1011 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will challenge even experienced hikers. The estimated duration for this route is 5 hours and 44 minutes, so be prepared for a long and strenuous journey.
As you begin your hike, you will come across the Pierre Giret parking area, which is located right at the start of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here before embarking on your adventure. As you continue on, you will pass by the Falaise de la Sassière, a popular climbing spot with stunning views of the surrounding area. It is located approximately 3.4 kilometers from the start of the trail.
Around the midway point of the hike, at a distance of 2.62 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Refuge du Ruitor, an alpine hut where you can rest and recharge before continuing on your journey. This is a great opportunity to refuel and enjoy the breathtaking scenery around you.
Throughout the route, you will encounter various water sources, such as the Laghi De Tachuy and Lac du Petit. These picturesque lakes will offer a refreshing break during your hike, so be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
At the end of the trail, approximately 6.08 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Col du Tachuy, a natural saddle point that marks the turnaround point of this out-and-back route. Take a moment to soak in the beauty of the surroundings before heading back the way you came.
