As you begin your journey, you will come across the 大屯山鞍部停車場 (Datun Mountain Parking Lot) located right at the trailhead. This is a convenient spot to leave your vehicle before starting the hike. As you make your way through the trail, you will encounter various points of interest such as the 大屯國立公園山之家遺址 (Datun National Park Mountain Home Site) about 0.21 kilometers into the hike, offering a glimpse into the area's historic past.

Further along the trail, at approximately 0.9 kilometers from the start, you will reach the 小觀音山西峰 (Xiao Guanyin Mountain West Peak), providing stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. As you continue onwards, you will pass by the 5號大屯溪古道防迷標誌 (5th Datun Creek Ancient Trail Anti-Lost Sign) at 1.1 kilometers, offering guidance along the path.

At the 1.11-kilometer mark, you will reach the 小觀音山西西峰 (Xiao Guanyin Mountain West West Peak), another prime viewpoint offering breathtaking sights. Just a bit further on, at 1.11 kilometers, you will encounter the iconic rock formation known as the 八戒石 (Bajie Stone), adding a touch of natural wonder to your hike.
