This challenging hiking route will take you to the Puig de Querroig in a beautiful area with historical significance. The trail is an out-and-back route with a total distance of 8.076 kilometers and an elevation gain of 507 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 3 hours and 8 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Memorial democràtic. Camins de l'exili Coll dels Belitres Portbou, a historic memorial just 0.06 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Further along, at 0.12 kilometers, you will see the Croix-frontière n° 600, a boundary stone with historical significance.
Continuing on, you will reach the Coll de la Fareille at 2.38 kilometers into the hike, followed by the Puig de l'Àliga at 3.47 kilometers. Along the way, you will also encounter two historic castles at 4.03 and 4.04 kilometers, respectively.
The highlight of the hike is reaching the Puig de Querroig at 4.04 kilometers, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Make sure to also check out the Dolmen du Col de la Farella, an archaeological site located 2.91 kilometers into the trail.
As this is a difficult hike with significant elevation gain, be sure to come prepared with plenty of water, sturdy hiking shoes, and snacks.
