This challenging out-and-back hiking route to La Croix d'Aquila covers a distance of approximately 6.82 kilometers with an elevation gain of 575 meters, making it a difficult trek that will take around 3 hours to complete.
Starting at the parking area, you will begin your journey along the trail, passing by a drinking water spot about 0.46 kilometers from the start where you can refill your supplies. As you continue onwards, at around 2.25 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Col de la Trancoulette, a saddle point offering stunning views of the surrounding natural landscape.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 3.41 kilometers from the start, you will reach the highlight of the route, La Croix d'Aquila, a peak with breathtaking views and a great spot to rest and take in the scenery.
It's important to note that there is another peak, La Roche Jaune, located at a distance of 2.46 kilometers from the start, but it is slightly off the trail and may require additional time and effort to reach.
