This hiking route will take you through the beautiful area surrounding Casa de Abrigo do Pico Ruivo. The trail is an out-and-back route, with a total distance of 4.626 kilometers and an elevation gain of 226 meters, making it an easy hike suitable for all skill levels.

As you start your journey, you will pass by Achada do Teixeira, a parking area located right at the beginning of the trail. From there, you will continue on to a shelter located 2.29 kilometers into the hike, providing a nice resting spot for hikers. Further along the trail at 2.31 kilometers, you will reach Casa de Abrigo do Pico Ruivo, an alpine hut offering accommodation for those looking to extend their hike into an overnight stay.

Along the way, you will encounter various viewpoints that offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding natural landscapes. Be sure to stop by the drinking water stations located at 2.29 and 1.26 kilometers into the hike to stay hydrated. Additionally, there are several information points scattered along the trail providing insights into the local area and its history.

As you reach the midway point of the hike, you will come across a shelter at 1.78 kilometers, offering a sheltered resting spot for hikers. Further along, at 0.74 kilometers, you will find Encumeada Baixa, a natural peak worth exploring before heading back on the return journey.
