This hiking route to Cime du Gélas / Monte Gelàs is located in a beautiful natural area with stunning peaks and picturesque lakes. The trail is 10.488 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 1206 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will pass by several points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Église de la Madone de Fenestre, a historic church that offers a glimpse into the area's cultural heritage. Further along, you will come across the Refuge de la Madone de Fenestre, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the mountain views.
As you continue on the trail, you will reach Le Lac Mort, a serene lake located 3.49 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to rest and take in the surrounding natural beauty. Moving forward, you will encounter other points of interest such as drinking water stations and informational sites providing insights into the local flora and fauna.
Midway through the hike, you will reach the Cime sud du Gélas, another peak offering panoramic views of the area. The trail also passes by Lac Blanc, a beautiful lake located 4.1 kilometers from the start, perfect for a scenic picnic or photo opportunity.
