This hiking route will take you to Alto de Calar, a challenging 8.364-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 732 meters. The total duration of the hike is approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Starting at the parking area located at the trailhead, you will follow the path as it meanders through the scenic landscape. About 0.88 kilometers into the hike, you will come across a water source, so make sure to refill your water bottles here.
As you continue on the trail, you will reach a viewpoint at 0.28 kilometers, where you can pause to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Further along the route, at 0.63 kilometers, you will find the Fuente de los 16 Caños, a perfect spot to rest and hydrate.
Around the midway point of the hike, at approximately 2.29 kilometers, you will encounter the Trincheras memorial that offers insights into the region's history. Continuing on, you will reach Alto del Toril, another peak at 2.29 kilometers, before finally arriving at Alto de Calar at 4.18 kilometers.
At the peak, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area before retracing your steps back to the starting point. Along the way, you can stop by the various restaurants and cafes that are located near the trail for a quick bite to eat.
This route is considered difficult due to its length and elevation gain, so make sure to come prepared with proper hiking gear, plenty of water, and snacks. Additionally, check the weather forecast before heading out to ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience.
