This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to Monte Cucco, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience. The trail spans approximately 14.6 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1262 meters, making it a demanding hike suitable for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you will embark on your journey towards Monte Cucco. Along the way, you will encounter various points of interest. Approximately 2.5 kilometers into the hike, you will come across the Prima Baita Malachino alpine hut, offering a cozy resting spot. Additionally, there is a water source nearby, perfect for refilling your supplies.
Further along the trail, at around 5.6 kilometers in, you will find the Valico Prà d'Arza saddle, providing a picturesque spot to take in the surrounding landscape. As you continue, you may also come across the Cima d'Arza peak for a stunning panoramic view.
For those in need of a break, rest areas equipped with benches are conveniently located along the trail. Be sure to stay hydrated by utilizing the available drinking water sources dispersed throughout the hike.
At the turnaround point, the Monte Cucco peak awaits, offering a challenging climb but breathtaking views at the summit. After enjoying the scenery, you will retrace your steps back to the starting point, completing the out-and-back route.
