This hiking route takes you through a beautiful area with breathtaking views. The trail is considered super easy, making it suitable for hikers of all levels. The total distance of the route is approximately 1.431 kilometers, with no elevation gain.
As you start your hike, you will come across a parking area, which is conveniently located at the beginning of the trail. About 0.72 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Spreading Basin 2, a scenic water feature perfect for a peaceful break. Further along the trail, at around 0.72 kilometers from the start, you will also encounter Spreading Basin 1, another picturesque water spot.
As you continue on the trail, you will pass by various other water features, such as Spreading Basin 8 (0.38 kilometers from the start), Spreading Basin 7 (0.41 kilometers from the start), Spreading Basin 6 (0.47 kilometers from the start), Spreading Basin 4 (0.58 kilometers from the start), Spreading Basin 5 (0.47 kilometers from the start), Spreading Basin 3 (0.6 kilometers from the start), and another unnamed water feature at 0.63 kilometers from the start.
For those driving to the trailhead, there are parking options available near the beginning of the trail at JPL Building 349 (Parking Structure B) and additional parking further away from the trail.
Remember to bring plenty of water, as there are limited water sources along the trail. It is also recommended to check the weather forecast before embarking on your hike. Enjoy the serene beauty of Spreading Basin 2 at the end of your out-and-back journey.
