This hiking route takes you through a beautiful area with stunning views and interesting points of interest along the way. The Sunset Trail is a 6.018 kilometer out-and-back path with an elevation gain of 203.0 meters, making it of moderate difficulty.

As you start your journey, you will pass by the SF-91L Nike missile launch site and the Nike Missile Site, both historic landmarks that are located 0.34 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. These sites offer a glimpse into the military history of the area.

Further along the trail, at a distance of 1.46 kilometers from the start, you will find the Sunrise Sites, a camp site perfect for a rest or overnight stay. Continuing on, at 1.63 kilometers from the start, Mount Caroline Livermore, a peak, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

For a more relaxing break, there are picnic sites and viewpoints scattered throughout the trail. Picnic sites are located at 0.4 kilometers and 3.01 kilometers from the start, while viewpoints can be found at various points, offering different perspectives of the scenery. Benches are also available along the trail for a quick rest stop.

Towards the end of the trail, at 1.92 kilometers from the start, Sand Springs Beach provides a tranquil spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views. Additionally, there are more viewpoints to explore at 1.92 kilometers and 2.02 kilometers from the start.
