This hiking route takes you through the scenic area of Chemin de la Grange in a circular path. The route covers a distance of 7.633 kilometers with an elevation gain of 259 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take around 2 hours and 24 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area just 15 meters from the trailhead, where you can leave your vehicle before starting the hike. As you make your way along the trail, at around 3.7 kilometers from the start, you will find a water source, perfect for refilling your bottles and staying hydrated.
Further along the trail, at approximately 2.71 kilometers from the start, there is another water source, although it is not directly on the trail. You can detour slightly to reach this point and replenish your water supply if needed.
One of the highlights of the hike is the Pic de Mauratier, a peak located at 2.94 kilometers from the start of the trail. This scenic spot offers breathtaking views and is a great place to take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
Towards the end of the hike, you will come across some historic landmarks, including the Chemin de ronde ruins at 0.01 kilometers from the trail and the Monument aux Morts memorial and wayside cross at the same distance.
As this is a difficult hike with a significant elevation gain, it is advisable to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, appropriate hiking gear, and sturdy footwear. Additionally, checking the weather forecast before embarking on the journey is recommended to ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience in the Chemin de la Grange area.
