This extremely difficult 12.131-kilometer circular hiking route will take you through the stunning Neunerkogel area. The hike includes an elevation gain of 1139 meters and is estimated to take around 5 hours and 39 minutes to complete.
Starting off from the trailhead, you will come across the Barbarafall waterfall just 0.79 kilometers into the hike. Further along the trail at 2.38 kilometers, you will find a water source and a parking area nearby. As you continue, you will pass by the Niedersachsenhaus alpine hut at 4.37 kilometers into the hike, offering a cozy resting spot with picturesque views.
Around 5.48 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Riffelhöhe peak followed by the Riffelscharte saddle at 4.3 kilometers. Make sure to stop by the Eisklettern climbing spot at 0.77 kilometers for a thrilling experience. For a refreshing break, visit the water sources located at various points along the trail.
Midway through the hike, at 5.99 kilometers, you will encounter the Neunerkogel peak, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surroundings. Continue on to find the Sonnblickbasis alpine hut at 0.03 kilometers and the Naturfreundehaus Neubau alpine hut at 2.38 kilometers.
