This extremely difficult 16.997 km circular hiking route takes you through the stunning Monte Valcalda area, offering breathtaking views and challenging terrain.
Starting at the parking area with easy access, make sure to bring plenty of water and check the weather forecast before embarking on this demanding journey. The trail will lead you past informative signage at regular intervals, providing interesting insights into the surroundings.
As you make your way along the path, you will encounter the Il Fontanone spring at the beginning, offering a refreshing pitstop before continuing your ascent. Further along, at 6.08 km from the start, you will reach the Ricovero Casera Teglara wilderness hut and shelter, perfect for a rest break and taking in the magnificent scenery.
Midway through the hike, at 7.37 km from the start, you will come across the peak of Monte Teglara, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Finally, at 8.4 km from the start, you will reach the highlight of the route, the peak of Monte Valcalda, where you can bask in the stunning vistas before making your way back.
With a total elevation gain of 1197.0 meters, this challenging hike is not for the faint of heart. Be prepared for steep inclines and rocky terrain, but the incredible scenery and sense of accomplishment make it all worthwhile.
