Welcome to the Hirtenaue hiking route near Heidelberg. This super easy out-and-back trail covers a distance of 0.919 kilometers with an elevation gain of 37 meters, making it perfect for hikers of all levels.
Starting at the Wanderparkplatz Pferchel parking area, the trail takes you through the scenic landscape, offering a variety of points of interest along the way. About 0.15 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across the Pferchelgrillhütte picnic site, where you can take a break and enjoy a meal amidst nature.
Continuing on, at around 0.22 kilometers from the start, you'll find the Walderlebnisgelände Pferchel information point, providing insights into the local flora and fauna. Nearby, the Waldspielplatz offers a fun stop for children to play and explore.
As you approach the midway point at approximately 0.45 kilometers, you'll reach the Hirtenbrunnen spring, a refreshing spot to refill your water bottle. Further ahead, the Hirtenaue viewpoint at 0.46 kilometers offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Before heading back, make sure to rest at the benches located along the trail, including one at 0.23 kilometers and another at 0.46 kilometers. Additionally, there is a shelter at 0.42 kilometers if you need to take cover from the elements.
